“Zeal for your house will consume me”

“The apple of His eye” You can mess with anything but if you want to see fire fall down from the sky try messing with what one treasures the most.

They beat Him up, they spitted on Him, they cursed Him, the said He was demon possessed, they put a crown of thorn on Him, they striped Him and hang Him on the cross…and in all these instances He never raised a finger or His voice. He somehow had patience for all that, He could hold Himself together for it all and persevere the pain inflicted on His flesh.

But what He just couldn’t stand was to see people misuse the house of His father! It’s to see people not understand the purpose that it served! Jesus had encountered so many sins in His lifetime…demon possessed, alduterous, liars , hypocrites…but the only time that He “lost His cool” the only time He was enraged in a way that He had to take matters into His own hands, was when they messed up with the house on which He was the foundation!

He didn’t care how many they were, He didn’t care how much wealth they had, all that didn’t matter to Him…He just couldn’t understand how these people had the guts to come to Him fathers house to conduct their dirty businesses! Did they seriously have nowhere else to do that! He didn’t care if they would think that He was crazy..He just had to put an end to what was going on and bring back order to His Father’s house.

I get the feeling that if He came down today, , some would be getting some very good beatings because somehow we often forget that the house of God is His treasure..we forget that the house of God isn’t a place for any other business but for prayers and fellowship with God. All other personal agendas are to be left at the gate. But some treat prayers and worship as “AoBs”.

We need to take a step back and rethink our focus. Are we still in alignment with God’s will or did we along the way shift our focus to our own will? We know God as the merciful God but we often forget that He is also the “consuming fire” and trust me we don’t want that fire turned against us..we are better of being on His good side.

Lastly, the physical church isn’t the only place we should step with great care…our very bodies are the temple of the Holy spirit, We should keep them holy, in everything we do pleasing the Lord.

St. John 2:14 In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money.
St. John 2:15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.
St. John 2:16 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!”
St. John 2:17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”

Shalom.
